jumping the shark!

Podcasts have jumped the shark. I have been saying this for a while now. You might ask yourself… How can you say that? Don’t you do that for a living? Well, yes. So I’ll be up front and save you some time…

Content is KING! There are lots of people with microphones. There are lots of people who love to hear themselves talk. But they aren’t really saying anything. They may have a platform, but seriously, I would put our content and interview skills up against anybody, and that is not me being cocky. That is me being confident. I am very proud of what I have built and what I am continuing to build here with Inherent Dream. The name of the game is evolution. The Inherent Dream Podcast Network is just part of the game. Inherent Dream is all about various forms of media. Where will we be in five years? Ten years? It may be a totally different game than it is today. 

So to inspire you and your business, ask yourself the following… What is your content? What is it that sets your business apart? Are you doing the same things as your competitor? If so, why should I choose you over the competition? Let 2025 be the year of evolution. 

There are a million podcasts, and then some, in this world. And you cannot begin to listen to them all. It is not possible. So how do you set yourself apart?

There is more to marketing than putting your business name on a pen or hat. There is more to advertising than social media bulletin boards. You have to put in the work. You have to get out there, roll up your sleeves and meet real people! It is about the human connection. Sure, I would love to work with you, but I also understand that podcasts aren’t for everybody. Some people are just against the concept, and that is OK. Some people will continue to advertise in the dying newspapers, and that is OK. And some people have a mindset of competition and will do everything to not recognize you (as if their validation matters), and that is OK too. 

You want a strong return on investment. How will you obtain this? In terms of advertising is that with podcasts? Radio? TV? Print? Social media? I would recommend not putting all your eggs in one basket. Embrace evolution! One million dollars is cool. But you know what is even cooler? Two million dollars. 

For me, it has never been about the money. I have been doing some form of podcasting for ten years now. If this idea fails or something else comes up short, I have a laundry list of projects I want to do. And I will do them. It’s not about the money. It’s about the connections we make. It is about impact. It is about how we make others feel. No one is going to remember your social media post from yesterday afternoon or last month. But they will remember how you communicate and how you made them feel. - Trevor
